Each time I open the designer, either from the toolbar, from view design within the database or the icon on the desktop, the designer begins to load, then crashes.
I have done the following, which have sometimes resolved the issue for a day or so...
1) Install as repair
2) removed 8.5 and then re-installed.
I have an NSD file, if someone wants to review
